I'm guessing that your base is effectively your castle, all with separate building components (walls, towers, etc) to let you design your own "Castle".
Short version, castles as single buildings in other games is incorrect. tthe big inner building is called a keep, and with multiple layers of walls, towers, etc., the whole complex of structures is called a castle.
So yes, variable castle design is something i am looking forward to, or otherwise known as base-building. :)|||i think that the system stronghold uses which is very cool but then u need the siege equipment range of weapons which will put the game in a totally different place than what i think they where planning(im guessing more aoe-styled)|||As long as I can make my castle look like Helm's Deep >>|||_Golgoth_|||no dude, I want Baradur. that would be awesome.
altough, Helms Deep would be pretty awesome too.|||Dodanodo|||Headless|||Peacebreaker|||Nephylim|||the castles in lotr are just made of win. I hope one day we will have a lotr mod for k&c. even if I have to make it myself! altough that would probably take several decades.|||This post just gave me an idea!
How about a castle editor apart from the main game? It would give you the time to figure out how you want to plan out your castle, and you could send it directly in-game as a pre-set thing. However, this mode for doing this will depend greatly on how the planning of the castle in-game actually turns out. HOwever, Since we don't know the details yet, it's hard to tell if this might work. A map editor would be nice too...
Which just made me think about another thing...
Simcity 4 and Spore have some very intuitive editors that at the same time can bring about complex things. Simcity 4 for maps, and Spore for models of things like buildings and all that. The sad part, is that they probably aren't usable for this cause...
Here are a few videos of the Simcity four editor thing, I won't bother with Spore since you've probably already seen a video of that in motion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uYKPGc8378 This video and the next include a snow mod, since snow won't appear in-game normally. Except if you play the game in December I think.

The tools could be made to create some almost amazingly complex and/or realistic regions. It's too bad the game only kept water at a certain level and didn't have waterfalls... :'(
Thoughts?|||it's a good idear, but I think GPG knows how to make a map editor. I mean, they've been around since almost the beginning of rts games. but this would be a nice source for inspiration.
