Creating defenses using the environment

[:1]I think it'd be cool if you could deform the terrain to slow the enemy down or set traps in the environment instead of just having watch towers or w/e static buildings would be used for defense. I know we haven't heard much about the type of defensive structures, but I thought it would be cool to discuss and make some suggestions here.
How about the ability to dig out some ditches or cut down trees to put together a makeshift wall. Being able to place archers in the woods to obscure them from view and spring ambushes on the enemy, etc.
Maybe just 2-3 such tactics could be simple enough to implement, but add a lot more variety and depth to defense in addition to just being able to plop down defensive structures and then manning them with units.|||Digging a ditch would be even more awesome if the dirt dug up could be used to make cheap walls.|||I think Moho does support terrain deformations...Didnt someone make a mod like that a while ago?|||That was the old engine. I'm pretty sure it wont work with the new one. There are ways around the limitations but it would require a lot of work. Walls and so on are way easier to make and are probably preferable for the job.|||But it would be sooooooo cooooooooool!
I'l let someone who knows more than me answer this, but arent both KnC and Supcom(2) on the same engine, moho? If so, why would it be hard to add a feature to one that was already possible in the other?|||Grim Tuesday|||We could still come up with other cool defense ideas that don't include terrain deformation.
How about being able to set other types of traps in the forest/choke points that are hidden from the enemy. Or maybe having some exploding defense units --- maybe burrowed badgers that explode when units pass overhead? Haha I know these are silly, but I'd personally have a good time blasting my enemies with my underground exploding badgers.|||Who says trenches have to be below ground? It'd be amazing to have units such as archers spend a few resources to create "breastwork" trenches that slow any units trying to climb over them, and can be used by both sides' archers. That's the kind of simple, emergent gameplay which I would just die to see.
Other suggestions would of course be traps of different sorts as suggested above, improvised wooden stake walls to stop cavalry charges, or even pools of pitch that can be set ablaze (Stronghold really got stuff like this right, I'd suggest taking a look at the first game if you need inspiration).
