A dream: Thousand Unit Armies

[:1]In the middle ages, the largest battles were between thousands of men. I think this would be pretty awesome to see and control in a game. Will this be seen in K&C? I doubt it, but who knows? Maybe GPG will optimize K&C enough to make it possible.
Do you think this would be fun? (This idea is obviously not practical, so don't post telling me that it is impossible/impractical/unlikely, because we already know)|||if you have a top-end workstation pc, then yes. I'd even suspect that with refrigeration cooling and overclocked hardware you could get 2k+ v 2k+ battles going.
your average rts rig, though, you'll mainly see 200-500 units per player.which is sort of fine imo.|||In a two player game, an slightly above average PC may be able to make it up to 1000 each, but not in a larger game.
However, I definitely support the inclusion of options for unit caps ranging up to at least 1000, and possibly higher. There could possibly just be a warning for >1000 unit caps that the game may not perform as well at higher unit caps, etc...|||I agree, just give people the option to crank the number of units up.|||may be it would be a spectacle, but it wont be much of a epic battle. There would no control possible at that level. Just giant blobs smashing into each other.|||BlueC|||Actually, being able to type in a unit cap rather than selecting one would be neat, as it would basically make the game future-proof in that regard.|||or make the game auto-detect how much units your com can handle with the current specs. if you want more units, you simple set the graphics lower and the pop limit will automaticly change accordingly. it seems possible to me as most games can already detect what specs your com can handle.|||Dodanodo|||There are modded files for making the supcom2 pop limit 1000. That runs fine on my pc. It should at least be there as an OPTION, maybe not in ranked, but people should still be able to have custom 1v1/2v2 games with a higher pop limit.|||Mooilo
