i want a mighty paladin with a shiny armor, a strong shield and a magic sword!
a game with a dragon, but without a dragon slaying paladin is like skeletor without he-man! megatron without optimus prime!
dont do that!
give me my paladin!|||I have a great concept for this kind of thing.
But if I share it, GPG might steal it and then I wouldn't be able to properly mod it in
Mike|||I want a fun game, but I don't want a game where some buff human is able to take on the world.. And I know fun > realism, but still it would look incredibly stupid.. Make human heros cheaper, but weaker, so that an army of heros would have to be used to take down the said creature heros..|||Just make sure the magic sword hasn't got a magic glow and i will be satisfied.|||IMO heroes should be similar to SCUs, just better in combat. they should be strong against experimental but ineffective against normal units.|||AND I WANT GUNDAMS TO BE IN TOO|||WNxWolfinator|||How about a mightier dragon to slay the hero?
...oh, and on the subject:
DANZA!|||C.Lupus|||aww, Solar. I really didn't need that mental image.
shame on you.|||HighFlyer15|||BulletMagnet|||C.Lupus|||Jokes aside, I think the mechanics of SCUs countering experimentals is a pretty elegant one. It prevents the late game from turning into pure economic contests. If an opponent build nothing but exps, they can be taken out quickly and cheaply by SCU/heroes - so he'd have to mix in normal units too.|||Nerdfish|||Same Line of games - CT games always include absurdly huge units. And I think heroes will more or less behave like SCUs, except in a less lame way
Why does the Support unit have so much more health than the Commander again?
Mike|||OrangeKnight|||No. NO NO NO NO.
No "Heroes". Look up Cliché in a dictionary: you'll find Hero right next to it.
As for an "SCU" or mini-experimental unit, its already been suggested along with some other stuff.
P.s. NO HEROES. >:-{|||heroes!
or the game will be cursed!
and about the cliché thing..
dragon?|||In this combat, the dragon should win:

I'm perfectly happy to have heroes in the game, as long as they can't kill things purely on the basis of being heroic. OP's paladin, therefore might be able to kill 20 or so men by himself by virtue of being a very good fighter and having good equipment, but he should not be able to bash down a dragon that breathes fire, has 2000 times his bodyweight, razor-claws the size of men and ultra-hard scales. Being experienced and well trained isn't going to cut it. I want my dragons to die by heavy artillery fire, massed archer volleys or aerial duels with steampunk fighters, not some buffed up human labelled "hero". Massive magical meteor strikes are also acceptable.
On a side note, if there is a "King" unit hero, then it might be a nice idea to take a leaf out of the Wesnoth/HoMM book and every time he reaches veterancy level x he can upgrade into a new type of hero depending upon what skills he picked when he levels. This assumes that Kings work sorta like demigods.
For example a King the specialises in ranged combat (out of options say, melee, tactics, magic, ranged, other) for his first 5 levels can choose to upgrade into a Longbow King (out of options say, Crossbow King, Cavalry Archer King, Longbow King, Javelin King etc)(names require tuning). These would all in turn have unique skills that only they could learn. This way you could preserve a bit of uniqueness to each player, so all the kings from one faction start the same quickly you'd have different kings on the field with different abilities. Futher specialisation could then occur at levels 15, 25 etc, so our Longbow King could upgrade to an Arcance Archer if he dabbles in magic, or a Ranger if he dabbles in tactics/stealth in the intervening levels.|||in this combat? if its not a movie.. you are right!
but the ingame dragon is not nearly that big. its more like a t-rex, and all you would need to kill a t-rex, is a big rifle..
so why should a human protected by magic not beeing able to kill a dragon of that size?
i think it comes down to how epic that fight would be, and how "realistic" the game will be..
i want a hero, i want a dragon and i want an epic fight.
thats all i want. :)
ps: and some nice cavalry with lances and a charge, remember braveheart.. the charge of the cavalry was awesome|||Galatan|||What if its some kind of Herculean hero that carries a Ballista on it's back?
