Having large maps is a very important thing to me because it makes the game feel a lot more authentic. I rememver the very first time i read a preview of SC1 and it said something along the lines of "an attack will be about rallying your troops and marching them off to war, and will take time"
I loved watching your army marching across to the enemies base, and it also allowed the enemy time to see it coming, and send a counter force, resulting in some of the best battles i've seen.
So please, when making the K&C maps, make them huge.|||Hazza616|||Totally. with just small maps the game will suffer ALLOT.|||On the topic of maps, Please do not make every map a mirror map. For the love of every rts game ever, do not make every make a mirror.
Boring mirror maps may be fine for "pro" competitive games, but they're visually boring.
Some of the best rts/tbs games i've had was with large non-symmetrical maps in TA, Age of empires series, and Civ4.|||re1wind|||Look just put a variety of map sizes.
Although I prefer large maps, put some for the people that want small maps.|||Viewpoint|||Imagine yourself playing kings and castles on a map like spring duel. Units killing each other in the center with archers on the hills. No ways to flank each other.
Fail.
Kings and castles definately needs bigger maps than Supcom2. With melee combat you dont have such a huge diversity of options. Flanking will be more important. Therefore, map size needs to be bigger to support all that. And frankly, I wanted supcom2 maps to be bigger anyways. Oh well...
